a thought
so i've decided to adopt another direction that would allow me to explore other avenues of concept and function and that is movie props. or just super clean models i guess. maybe squibs- we'll see how it pans out.

work

Some work from product sketching i was lucky enough to get displayed at school and used for some marketing catalog- nothing too exciting, the concept is a utility athletics shoe that could be taken apart to replace worn components rather than chucking the whole thing in the garbage. Ergonomics played a factor in its concept though we weren't pushed too hard to ensure its effectiveness (for this class anyways), parts include, laces, toe cup, heel/arch support, inner sole, outer sole, tongue; each part would ideally be custom made pending on the demands of activity- even cleats could be added in place of special screws in soles.

update
so new quarter, new schedule:
- hist of material culture
- IND101
- product sketching
- low poly modeling
a fleeting stab at professionalism

with a bit of confidence i decided to attempt to establish a logo as you may have noticed- nothing complicated, just my initials, compact and efficient i'm hoping it generally conveys the idea i want to get past in my work. but anyways i'm not too sure if i like the older font merged or the mod-font i whipped out of nowhere.
anyways i plan to start signing portfolio pieces as such but now i'm conflicted by the fact that ID is such an unwieldy and expansive subject; not knowing where to start can leave one perplexed by the daunting amount of paths that can be taken. so i believe i've settled on starting simply and just making a shelving unit for my cluttered and extremely unorganized studio apartment, its not too exciting, but its a place to start and theres certainly enough woodworking equipment in the lab- i mean, why spend $15 at ikea when i can gain so much more by spending $15 at crosscut woods? pics to come (eventually).

finally-
an update damn
been busy this quarter, though i only have 3 classes i work 18 hours a week and said classes are all project based- so i can spend x amount of hours on any one project. now that i'm sick i can finally update this since i can hardly concentrate on anything else. this quarter i have fabrication techniques, mechanical drawing, and sculpture theory and practice. other than school life is peachy keen. the kids (and i mean that in all literal implications of the word) on my floor don't like me too much because they're too busy with their heads up their asses to know what common courtesy is and that some people have an actual schedule to abide by. but like i said, this is their first time away from home-ergo i have to keep sticking my head out my door and telling the to stfu. i'm the old man on my floor, basically. but things are better, finally have a job, just got a 360 (for cheap- now all i need's a tv), been hanging out with some of the more grown up tenants of the building, i mean housing still blows but i suppose it could be worse. um what else, theres no good chinese or mexican food! dammit.. i miss the sun too, and heatwaves. and guamanian food- mia said if i ever go to spokaine with her her mom could cook some but i don't plan on going north this spring. but yea thats about it, i'll post some pictures of my homework soon.
